Get rid of the crawl!!! TACKY. I hate those damned things. Maybe on a 24 hour news shoe they serve some purpose, but even they, they are so distracting and generally useless.

I completely agree. I find it so distracting, I can’t watch both. I will usually end up reading the crawl and completely missing the news. And I agree w/ Ilene – sometimes what’s crawling is way better than what is being reported

The crawls drive me nuts. I can either listen to the story or read the crawl, but I’m not so good at doing both at the same time. Visually, it’s a nightmare. That said, I sometimes find myself reading the crawl because it’s more interesting than what the reporters are saying. (I say this in general–not about KEYE specifically.) I probably wouldn’t have noticed the crawl being wrong though, as it’s usually just a distraction.

I too have wondered what happened to some familar faces on the news that seem to disappear from time to time. I guess it’s not important from a news standpoint, but you’d think a mention could be make on a station’s website to indicate that so-and-so has left, and we wish her/him good luck… It just seems kind of rude not to acknowledge a person’s contributions even if there was an acrimonious parting. Like you said, the viewers don’t need the gory details – just acknowledgement that they are watching and are appreciated by the station directors enough to be informed.
