Bill Church, brings almost 40 years experience as a journalist to his present role as a freelance writer. After earning bachelors and masters degrees in journalism from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University, Bill embarked on a 16-year career in television news at four different major market network affiliates. After early years as a news writer, on-air reporter and news producer, Bill rose to news director, leading all news writing and production operations of a 40-person San Antonio, Texas network television affiliate.
Bill then embarked on a second career, directing media relations at a Fortune 500 multinational manufacturer, at a large utility and for a major region of one of the world's largest international professional services firms. A major portion of his time included the writing of news releases, news “pitch” letters, internal print and electronic newsletters, and speeches.
In 2004, Bill moved to Florida where he founded his own communications company. He interviewed leading South Florida executives and wrote numerous company and personal profiles for the Scripps Treasure Coast Newspaper chain. For National City Bank’s (now PNC's) Florida operations, Bill researched and wrote a quarterly online employee newsletter.
Bill also served as an adjunct instructor in communications at Florida Atlantic University, teaching courses in news reporting & writing and in public relations.
